Juan Pablo
Juan is someone who has been able to move ahead in live and progress alongside his family, thanks to his desire to work and always face difficulties head-on. Juan is married and the father of two children aged 5 and 7, whom he has always wanted to provide with everything they need.

Juan has been working for dairy product companies for most of his life, and this has allowed him to to gain very good knowledge of this sector. Thanks to his boss, who gave him the opportunity to distribute products on his own account with a profit margin that allowed him to generate good earnings, Juan rents a vehicle on a daily basis for distribution of his products. In this way he is able to serve more clients during the day. Renting this vehicle is very expensive, which decreases his business' profits considerably. With the goal of being able to have good profits for his business, Juan hopes that a loan will provide him with the opportunity to purchase the vehicle that he currently rents for distributing his dairy products. In this way he will be able to have better profits.

Juan hopes that in this way his income will increase considerably, as he will be able to continue distributing his products without having to pay for daily vehicle rental, which is very expensive. Juan hopes that with better profits, he will be able to provide his family with a better quality of life, and provide his children with access to a better quality of education.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
