A loan of $2,200 helped a member buy stock for his food shop.

Buyuni Group's story

Ahmad is in his mid-20s and single. He has been running a food shop for six years. He works from 7:00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M. daily, and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be his second loan from Jujijenge Tanzania Limited. He used the previous loan to re-stock missing items in his shop and pay household expenses. He has paid back all of his loans successfully. He wants a loan to buy 50 kilos of sugar, 50 kilos of rice, 30 kilos of wheat flour, 30 kilos of backing flour and a bucket of cooking oil. His dream is to build his own house.

He will share this loan with his loan group, "Buyuni," which has a total of 19 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.
