A loan of $1,125 helped to buy paper in greater volume.

Herlinda's story

Herlinda lives to the south of the city and works in recycling. She sells paper in a market that she knows very well and that drives her potential for growth. Herlinda buys waste paper from the businesses in the duty-free zone of the city. She selects them, and she sells those that are in good condition to various customers in the district and to furniture stores and glass stores, which use them to wrap their merchandise. Her goal for the future is to have a well-outfiitted shop where she can carry out this activity effectively. Her greatest challenge is insufficient working capital to make purchases when she has the opportunity and could get many discounts. With her business, she has managed, along with her husband, to create well-being in their household, and she has a great determination to increase her income, making it grow through her work. She is now applying for a Kiva loan, her first financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, with which she will buy paper in large volume and sell it in the present market, which is waiting for her to respond to their orders.
