A loan of $4,975 helped a member to increase her salon equipment and to start a food vendor business.


Kilongawima Group's story

Magdalena, who is in her early 30s, is married with three children who are still going to school. She has been running a beauty salon for two years now. She works from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm daily and is able to make a small monthly profit.

This will be her third loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to put in better mirrors, put tiles near the washing sink and bought more salon equipment and has paid back both her loans successfully. This loan will be used to increase her salon equipment and to start a food vendor business. Her dream is to one day be able to build her own house.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Kilongawima" which has a total of 16 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.
