Wilma Estela's story

Wilma is noted for being a very hard-working person. She has faced some difficulties in life but she has been able to overcome them and make progress. She is a single mother and has a 17-year-old daughter. Wilma has had to provide her daughter with a decent upbringing on her own as her daughter's father never made any financial contribution towards her upkeep. When her daughter was born, Wilma had to leave her job in a company in order to look after her. She needed to create work for herself so that she could care for her daughter as she worked. She therefore decided to set up a stationery store in her home. This business makes her the income she needs to support her household. Wilma has gradually added a greater variety of products to her store and currently sells cosmetics, clothing and costume jewelry as well. This has turned her humble stationery store into a 'miscelánea' (a small store that carries a wide variety of goods). As a result, she has gained a large number of customers. With the aim of continuing to increase the variety of merchandise that she sells in her store, Wilma would like to take out a loan which will allow her to buy costume jewelry, cosmetics and clothing. This will enable her to provide her customers with a larger variety of products. Wilma hopes that this will increase her income significantly as she will be able to meet more of her customers' needs. She hopes to be able to provide her daughter with a better quality of life and she dreams of her daughter going to university.
