A loan of $1,200 helped to have working capital for his bakery.

Edwin's story

Edwin is 31 years old, single, and a very hard-working person. He lives in Villa Israel, a very poor neighborhood in a depressed area on the outskirts of the city, in Cochabamba department. This is where his small home and small bakery are located. He has an oven where he makes bread from very early in the morning so that he can deliver it before 9.00am to the stores and schools. His profit margin is very small owing to his small production. In addition, he cannot compete with the large bakeries who come in vehicles to deliver their bread to the same stores that he delivers to. For this reason, Edwin needs a loan which will allow him to buy more supplies and stock up with flour, butter, salt, oil, yeast and sugar so that he can double or triple his production to sell in his area and in nearby neighborhoods. He has experience in the bakery business and also has a market of existing customers.
