Fredy's story

27-year-old Fredy is single. He lives with his 48-year-old mother and his 50-year-old father in their own home, in the town of Santa Clara, in Huasahuasi district. Fredy is an exemplary son. He devotes his youth to caring for his parents and working with them. He says that, in spite of the various difficulties that he has experienced in farming, he really enjoys it. His main business activity is growing potatoes. His main problem is the weather which sometimes batters him with intense rain and cold. However, in spite of this, he works with the same effort. Fredy has been farming for 10 years, enough time to get to know the sowing seasons and make sure they coincide with the best time of year for making sales in the wholesale market in the city of Tarma. It really bothers him when buyers insist on lowering prices. In the future, Fredy will acquire his own farmland which will save him money and provide him with stability. His work is hard but, even so, he is the one who makes most income in his family.

Fredy belongs to the "Trabajemos Unidos" (Let's Work Together) community bank and this will be his 12th loan from MFP. He pledges to be punctual in making his loan repayments. He feels happy that he is able to save with his community bank. Fredy will invest his loan money in buying sacks of organic fertilizer with which to fertilize his potatoes.
