Las Tejedoras Group
The president of this group, Norma, lives with her husband and children. Her business is making handicrafts from ñanduti (Paraguayan lace). She also sells clothes. Together with her fellow group members, she carries out constant activities in order to promote good team spirit and try to bring forward their repayments. Norma describes herself as a very hard-working and tenacious person and she tells us that she always works as hard as she can so that she is able to help her husband with their household expenses and provide for their children.
Norma is requesting this loan to buy fabric and threads so that she can continue making her embroidered products. She is grateful to Fundación Paraguaya and Kiva for the opportunity that they are providing.
La presidenta, la señora Norma vive con su marido e hijos, ella se dedica a la artesanía en ñanduti y también vende ropas. Ella junto con sus compañeras realiza constantes actividades y de ese modo fomentar la integración entre las compañeras y tratar de adelantar sus cuotas. Ella se define como una persona muy trabajadora y luchadora, y nos comenta que siempre se esfuerza al máximo para poder ayudar a su marido con los gastos de la casa y la manutención de su hijo.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
