Tomasa's story

Tomasa is 42 years old and lives with her common-law partner with whom she has a son. She was born in the urban settlement of Cotowincho in Urubamba Disgtrict in Urubamba Province in Cusco Department and still lives in the same city where she was born.

Tomasa sells food on one of the principal streets of Cotowincho. She prepares different types of dishes such as, for example, chicken soup, beef head soup and others. At this time Tomasa needs a loan to purchase lamb and chicken.

The Munay Tika Communal Bank is made up of responsible and hardworking people who are moving their families forward. A majority of the members live in Urubamba Province in Cusco Department where they conduct their economic activities.

Cusco Department is known as a highly commercial tourist zone and for its traditional Inti Raymi celebration and because Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world, is found here.
