Deira Luz's story

Deira, 46, has a 13-year old son who she dreams about seeing become a successful professional. She is the owner of a beauty shop where she offers personal and professional image improvement for women, men and children.
Her entrepreneurial spirit was born with her talent for cosmetics beautification and that is why when she finished her high school, she studied cosmetology and started her business with a mirror, a machine to cut hair and many desires to succeed. As she started earning money with her work, she bought a dryer and gradually has been adding equipment such as dryers, brushes, and even a showcase to be able to attract new customers and satisfy the needs of the current ones. Lately she not only offers haircuts, manicures, pedicures, etc, but also new personal accessories. She sells beauty products and thus has been able to establish a customer base.
Her goal is to add a new chair for haircuts and increase her merchandise to continue attracting customers.
Now she is applying for a Kiva loan, the first that she has had with the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. She will use it to buy beauty products, hair dyes, shampoo, hair treatments, etc to bring in more customers that order from her. That is why she sees the potential success of her investment because she takes orders and buys on credit. With a higher volume, she will get discounts. Her greatest goal is to have enough working capital to invest in her business which has increasing and demanding customers.
