A loan of $1,325 helped buy cocoa plants.

Valentina's story

Valentina, 46, lives with Macedonio, 46, and they have 3 children. They live together in their own house in the District of Pichari. Valentina is generous and hard-working. She’s been working in agriculture since she was very little, cultivating cocoa, coffee, bananas and citrus. When she was young, she’s travelled to Lima with the purpose of finding better living conditions, and there she met her husband. Soon after, things went badly in Lima because the country was going through political instability, so they decided to move back to Pichari. In Pichari, they began cultivating cocoa and coffee and both products are in considerable demand in the outside market.

Valentina is happy with her line of work because it generates an optimal return. In the future, she is thinking about cultivating more cocoa plantations in order to obtain better crops and better income. This is her 2nd loan with MFP and she promises to pay it off punctually. She is happy with the communal bank because they’re punctual and supportive. With the loan, she would invest in the purchase of cocoa plants with the purpose of increasing her crops.
