Nugzar's story

Nugzar is from the village of Khutsubani, West Georgia. He is 60 years old and lives with his family – his wife, Inga; his 30-year-old daughter; and his 15-year-old son.

Nugzar’s daughter is a pharmacist and works in a local pharmacy. His son goes to school. Nugzar is leading the agricultural business of the family. They grow citrus, persimmon and nuts on 0.4 hectares of family-owned land. Harvested products are sold locally to greengrocery-products retailers. Inga is a teacher of Georgian literature. She gives lessons to pupils at home. She has up to 10 pupils. They come to lessons three times a week. Total average monthly income of the family is 1,000 Laris.

Nugzar requested credit for the renovation of a room in their house, which is used as a classroom by Inga. After renovation and purchasing necessary furniture, Inga can have more pupils. The income of the family will increase, and they hope that the family will be able to make some savings for renovating the rest of the rooms in their house.
