A loan of $1,675 helped to purchase two cattle, one milker and fodder for them.

Rovshan's story

Rovshan, 44, is married and has two children. He is an IDP (internally displaced person) and lives with his family in Bilasuvar IDP Settlement. Rovshan buys young cattle to raise and fatten in five to six months, then sells them at a profit in the local livestock bazaar. He also raises cows for the milk and yogurt that he sells to the neighbors. Rovshan has more than seven years of experience in this field, thanks to his father who taught him the best ways to look after cattle.

Milk, yogurt and meat are very popular foods in Azerbaijan. People use meat in everyday national dishes such as pilau and dolma and often use yogurt as a sauce. Milk products are considered very healthy to eat; they are present in everyday life.

Rovshan’s cattle business brings in 200 AZN a month, the family’s only income. It is not enough to cover the basic needs of his beloved children. He has applied for a 1300 AZN loan with ACU (his second loan with them) to purchase two cattle, one milker and fodder for them. Rovshan has a good client history.
