Update on Oscar Alberto

Oscar is a hard-working and very responsible man. He currently lives in his own home which he worked very hard to build. He lives with his wife and three children, and he is responsible for supporting the family. Oscar lives in a small community called "Mochumi". It is a rural place which is home to approximately 100 families and is located in Chiclayo province, in Lambayeque department.

Oscar's business is selling bicycle and motorcycle parts. He makes his sales from a space that he has set up in his own home and he has been in his business for approximately three years. Oscar tells us that the idea to set up this business came about during a conversation with his wife. They have always been alert as to how they can get ahead and improve their children's education and food. As Oscar lives in a rural area, the need for motorcycle parts is continuous.

The amount that Oscar invested in his business was not enough to deal with the demand that he is currently experiencing. For this reason, he has decided to request a loan for 1,000 soles from Edpyme Alternativa. He will use the money to buy spare parts and other very important accessories that he needs to satisfy his customers so that they can work better in their vehicles.

Oscar has gained the affection and respect of his neighbors who provide good references both for him and his family. He has gained this respect through his good nature and his good values.

Concurrent and Successive Loans

Our Field Partners often work with borrowers over a series of loans as the borrowers build credit, take out bigger loans, and expand their businesses. In order to make it easier for our Field Partners to post loans for borrowers who have been listed on Kiva before, we allow them to post successive and concurrent loans for their Kiva borrowers. This means that our Field Partners are able to post a borrower's second, third, etc., loan on Kiva without having to re-enter all of the borrower's information.

This borrower has been listed on Kiva before, so you'll see an updated loan description, as well as excerpts of the original descriptions from earlier loans. Most borrowers take out loans consecutively, meaning that they receive a second loan after having repaid the first. However, sometimes our Field Partners give out concurrent loans, allowing borrowers to take out one primary loan and a secondary "add-on" loan along with it. These "add-on" loans are typically smaller than the borrower's primary loan and serve a different purpose. Because Field Partners can now post loans as successive and concurrent loans, you will be able to track borrower progress over time and see the various ways a borrower is working with our Field Partners through funds from Kiva’s lenders.
