Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $2,125 helped to buy seeds, films, fertilizer, and to perform some repairs on his greenhouses.

Ivan's story

Ivan has been growing early vegetables for 8 years already. He owns three large greenhouses, as well as a greenhouse for seedlings. Additionally, he is also renting two more greenhouses. Altogether, he cultivates close to 7,000 tomato plants. Ivan is a hardworking farmer, who has the desire to further develop his business.
Ivan is asking for a loan to buy seeds, films, fertilizers, and also to perform some repairs on his greenhouses. He is planning to invest his profits in the business. Next year, he is thinking of buying the plot of land that he currently leases (and on which he rents two greenhouses).
Ivan lives with his elderly mother who is very ill. Last year she underwent a complex surgery and she cannot help Ivan with his business. Ivan manages by himself. He likes the greenhouse business, as it brings good profits.
