A loan of $950 helped to buy merchandise (blouses, polo shirts, socks, notebooks, and other items).

Marisel Bereniza's story

Marisel is a young, single mother with a little eight year old boy. Spending time with him makes her very happy. They watch movies together, an activity that they both enjoy. They live in Ica, a city acclaimed as the “Tierra del Sol” (Land of the Sun). It is a beautiful place, surrounded by sand dunes, where people can participate in various adventure sports. This area has developed economically in recent years, and here is where Marisel and her son live and where she has her own business.

As you can see in the photograph, she sells cosmetics, earrings, necklaces, clothing and other items of attire. In her business, she serves approximately ten customers per day, that is to say, ten people make purchases. This allows her to pay for her products and generate the profits she needs. Marisel is very grateful to her mother since she was the one who gave her the incentive to start her business and supported her in the times when she needed her the most.

With the help of the Kiva loans, she will be able to buy merchandise for the “Back to School Campaign” (blouses, polo shirts, socks, and other items). This will enable her to increase sales and offer new products that her customers need. Her dream is to continue making progress. She knows that, with hard work and extreme dedication, she will succeed. With the money that she earns, she wishes to pool together her savings in order to finally have her own house.
