Rosa's story

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Rosa now lives with her 16-year-old daughter in the Bronx, New York. She moved to the United States 20 years ago to attend school for business and accounting in hopes of one day owning her own business. Last year Rosa was able to fulfill this dream by establishing "RSJ Accounting Services", a home-based business that handles accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparations for both businesses and individuals. In addition to this Rosa still maintains a part-time position with the Department of Education as a Human Resources Employee.

Currently Rosa is the only person employed by RSJ, however before the end of the year she hopes to employ a bookkeeper and a tax preparer. Also this year, Rosa hopes to transform her home-based business into a larger one, that will be able to provide a CPA service, and move her business into an professional office. This loan will be used to purchase needed software, as well as office supplies, including new desks, chairs, and computers.
