A loan of $575 helped purchase natural fertilizers.

Orfelinda's story

Orfelinda is 38 years old. She is a hard-working woman. She lives with Esteban, her husband. They had five children together but they only raise two of them in their own house located in the city of Pampas. In one area of the house, she built a small garden where she grows a variety of good quality products. She fertilizes them with island guano manure from which she obtains healthy and big produce from the soil. In the future, she is thinking about planting in more extensive plots of land in order to earn greater profits. Currently, she only plants peas, corn, olluco (ulluco) and potatoes on rented plots since she doesn’t have her own plots. She rents them for the entire year, so she does not have to pay monthly. She also raises sheep. Along with her produce harvest, she sells them at the city fair. However, when she has a greater quantity of food, she travels to the capital of the country to get a better buying price. Her plans for now are to save money in order to purchase her own plots. She belongs to the New Horizon (Nuevo Horizonte) communal bank. This is the eighth loan with MFP and she hopes that with this small loan she can achieve her objectives. On the other hand, she promises once again to complete her payments. In addition, she is grateful to be a part of her association because all of the members are responsible and supportive people. Orfelinda will invest the requested money in the purchase of natural fertilizers to spread between her ullucos and potatoes.
