Cofel Group's story

This group bears the name COFEL which means Love of the next one, and has been in existence since the creation of the BV (banc villageois). It currently comprises 10 women who all live in the same village and share positive social values. Joséphine Maty (standing on the left of the photo with her hand raised) is the group leader. She is a married woman, 46 years old and the mother of 7 children. She has been a member of the BV since the beginning and she has developed a good relationship with her friends within the Banc Villageois. Joséphine is a retailer, active in the trading of salt, groundnuts and pigs. She has sound experience in this area, having worked in it for a long time. This latest loan of 50,000 CFA will allow her to purchase some salt, some stock cubes and also a pig for resale at the little marketplace in her village. With her profits she will buy school equipment for the children, and put some savings into her account with the Banc Villageois.
