A loan of $275 helped to purchase school supplies.

Mirian Ondina's story

Miriam Ondina is 34 years old. She is a single mother with three children aged 16, 14 and 10. She lives with them in the village of Cedros, in Tela in Atlántida.

For the last six months, Miriam has been working selling new clothing and shoes. She sells clothes for women, men and children. Previously she sold food only on the weekends, but she saw that this wasn't profitable for supporting her children. This motivated her to set up her own business which has helped her to earn the income she needs. Through her own efforts she has been able to keep it going, working for five hours daily.

She is currently requesting her first loan for 5,000 lempiras, which she will invest in the purchase of school supplies for sale so she can take advantage of the school season and so be able to earn additional income for her household.

Her plan is to continue working to be able to grow her business, and so to be able to provide a better future for her children.
