A loan of $700 helped to build a small artisanal oven.

Martha Lorena's story

Martha has a small kiosk where she sells pastries and traditional sweets of the city like 'cajetas de leche' (similar to caramel) and 'bizcotelas' (small crisp cookies). She has 5 children and is a widow. She started her business five years ago; this is her second business, before she sold clothing and general merchandise.

Presently she has her kiosk across from a college located in one of the most popular and picturesque neighborhoods in the city of Leon, called Subtiava. She makes her own sweet bread, but she pays to use an oven because she doesn't have her own. It is for this motive that she has requested a loan, so that she can make a small artisanal oven. This way she will be able to bake her own breads and save the money she has been spending on renting an oven. She would like to enlarge her kiosk and sell all kinds of foods, but for right now she wants to start with selling sweet breads and traditional sweets.
