A loan of $875 helped to buy school supplies, notebooks, uniforms, backpacks, shoes, skirts and t-shirts.

Maria Mercedes's story

María, 50, used to be a housewife but one day with help from her husband she decided to start a business selling clothes, shoes, perfume, cosmetics and jewelry. She’s now been in business seven years. She sells in an ambulatory fashion; her customers tend to be office employees, university students and housewives that she visits in their homes. In this way she earns her livelihood honestly and teaches her children to be hardworking people.

She’s asking for a loan to buy school supplies, notebooks, uniforms, backpacks, shoes, skirts and t-shirts because these are the items her customers are asking for and they sell like “hot bread.” One of her goals is to open a general store and to do some home repairs.
