A loan of $2,175 helped to purchase equipment to make a student-friendly studio.

Karyn's story

Karyn is a resident of Newport, Rhode Island, and owns Sacred Stone, which specializes in massage therapy, yoga and ayurveda treatments, home-study training and short-term workshops, and holistic product sales. Previously the business operated out of her home, but due to lack of space for accommodating larger groups, she decided to open a new location. In January, she moved to a larger location and developed a sister school, NAMTA (Newport Academy of Massage Therapy and Ayurveda), as a qualification program designed to prepare students for the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Message and Bodywork. This expansion has allowed Karyn to reformat her program, making it longer and more inclusive. NAMTA has also enabled her to seek employees. She has already received over 30 inquires.

Karyn will use this loan to purchase massage tables, small equipment and other necessary facilities to better accommodate her students.
