A loan of $2,900 helped a member to stock up on seeds in order to better prepare for farming during the rainy season.

Kambeng Bloc 1 Group's story

The Kambeng Bloc 1 group has been created at the inauguration of the “banc villageois.” It is composed of 15 women living in the same area. They work as vendors and farmers.

Mrs. Yama (standing on the far right) is the group’s leader. She is 48 years, married and the mother of five. She also takes care of two other school-aged children, relatives from nearby villages. She grows peanuts and prepares peanut paste for sale. With this loan she plans to stock up on seeds in order to better prepare for farming during the rainy season. She plans to use the revenues to help her husband provide for the children’s schooling.
