Kireka C1D Group's story

The group leader of this small group is Sophie K.. She is currently in the business of stone quarrying and is requesting a loan to purchase more quarrying equipment. Sophie is 35 years old and is a widow. She has 3 children ranging from age 5 to 14 and her children go to school. Each week, Sophie makes approximately UGX 50000 in profits and with the extra profits from her loan, she hopes to be able to save for her children's education. Sophie has taken a loan from BRAC Uganda before in the amount of UGX 200000 in order to add to her business and the loan was paid back on time.

Sophie is joined in her small group by Slimah D., Esther N., Sarah N., and Florence N.. Slimah D. has a business running a retail shop and wants to expand to wholesale. Esther N. is currently operating a retail shop business and wants a loan to stock more commodities. Sarah N. operates a tailoring business and wants to purchase more fabric. Florence N. is currently in the business of running a beauty salon and is requesting a loan to buy more hair dryers.
