This area is the main coffee and sugar cane producer in Costa Rica, and produces also staple grains (rice, beans and corn), fruit, pulses, tubers and vegetables. In addition, the province hosts the International Juan Santamaría Airport, the most important in the country.

For several months María Isabel has needed financial support to pay tuition fees for her daughter who studies at the university to become a great professor of religion and be responsible for teaching the principles to the future students. This is why María Isabel applies for a loan of 500,000 colones to pay the registration fees and buy a few books that her daughter needs for her studies and so can pursue her academic career and become a great professional.

María Isabel is a member of the Communal Credit Company of El Encanto de Pital, one of the 150 partner organizations of the microfinance institution EDESA in Costa Rica. This is her first loan and it will help her to grow both personally and economically. She wants to be an active partner in the credit organization of her community.
