Marion, a primary school teacher in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is presented to you in this photo. She is 45 years old and married to a civil servant. The couple has four children who are attending primary and secondary school. A native of Kambia town, Marion has been a professional teacher for the past 26 years.
Marion is requesting a loan to pay school fees for her children. At the end of each month, she will repay the loan using her monthly salary.
About Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT)
Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is Kiva’s oldest field partner in Sierra Leone. SMT began operations in 2002 as a microcredit program of the NGO Child Fund Sierra Leone under a USAID program to assist the reintegration of ex combatants back into their communities.
