Yolanda's story

Yolanda lives in the town of Soledad, 15 from the city of Barranquilla, with her husband and 4 children, aged between 11 and 28. She divides her time between making items of clothing, and selling 3 different types of goods. Her main business is the dressmaking, an activity she has been doing in the 20 years since she learned this art. She started out making bespoke dresses to the measurements of her friends and neighbours, and with the income from that she gradually expanded her range and her client base. She began offering beauty products and other goods that slowly took precedence. Her dream of growth is still with her, and she wants to increase her client base once more, but her working capital is not enough to respond to her customers' demands. This is her reason for seeking a Kiva loan, her first finance from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. With it she will buy fabric and notions, clothes, and cosmetics, along with such other merchandise as she can get at a good discount through the catalogues and that her customers have requested her to get at the best price. Her goal is to succeed in growing her income, to improve her wellbeing and that of her family each day.
