A loan of $1,125 helped to stock her general store.

Miryam's story

Miryam is working hard to support her family. She has operated a corner grocery store for about 5 years. Her brother started the business and she worked for him there, only taking over the business after he died. Miryam works hard to make the store pay, both to support her mother who can no longer work and to share with her husband the family's other expenses. Miryam and her husband have 2 children and she wants to provide for them in every way she can. Miryam's mother owns the building where they operate the store, so she doesn't have any rent-related expenses. Even so, there's never been any money to properly stock the store and it's barely scraping by. Miryam is applying for a loan so that she can buy the merchandise she needs to grow the business. She wants to stock the store with both the everyday products her customers need and with other products that the might want. She expects the investment to bring in more customers and, in turn, increase her sales. Miryam's goal for the future is to open a larger store. She wants to increase her income and provide work for the people she would hire. Her greatest hopes are that her mother enjoy good health and that her family have a steady income and a better quality of life.
