A loan of $950 helped to buy fabric, thread and elastic.

Ana's story

Ana is 37 and a hard-working, determined woman, who is very eager to get ahead. She lives with Leni, who is a mototaxi operator. They have three children, ages 22, 19, and 10, and live in their own house.

Ana is a dressmaker and makes women's and men's lingerie. For this she has a workshop that she set up in her own home, starting out with a sewing machine that she bought with her savings four months ago, and relying on the help with the sewing that her older sister provides in her spare time.

She likes her business, as it allows her to have an income to pay her expenses. She learned this business at a vocational training center, started by the nuns of a church, who gave free classes. So she learned a trade in order to have an occupation. Now, seeing that her business turns out to be profitable, she has plans to make it grow, and expand with more machines.

This will be her second loan with MFP, so she is hoping for a small loan so that she can meet her objectives. In addition, she is comfortable with her solidarity group, as she considers it close-knit and responsible. With the amount of 2,500 nuevos soles applied for, she will buy sewing materials such as fabric, thread, and elastic, in order to have stock available in her materials storeroom.
