A loan of $1,100 helped to buy spare parts and repair his minivan.

Manuel De Jesús's story

Manuel, 60, is married and has three children. He has 42 years’ experience in the artistic world as a singer. He learned from his grandfather but improved and learned still more from a teacher who perfected his musical instruments, like the guitar. Manuel plays in bars and restaurants from Monday through Saturday from 8pm until 2am for people who attend them to relax and who like to listen to all types of music. He and a friend form a duet and they sing two songs for $5.00.

Manuel is asking Fundación Campo for a loan to replace damaged parts and repair his minivan because it’s his mode of transportation for work because he works nights and it’s dangerous to move about on foot. If his minivan is in good operating condition he’s able to visit several restaurants in a single night so if his music isn’t in high demand in one place he can move on to another and earn income to subsist. From this income, he uses part of it so that his children can study academic careers and to provide them with opportunities he never had.
