A loan of $750 helped to buy a freezer.

Alicia Paula's story

Alicia is a woman who nothing discourages. She’s a mother and her son is 15 years old attending fourth year of secondary school. She has raised him by herself and she’s very proud of that. Like a good Peruvian, she loves our food and one of her favorite dishes is “Picante de Cuy.” In her free time, Alicia likes to knit and she’s quite good at it as a matter of fact, especially when she knits clothes for babies they turn out beautifully. She only studied up to fifth grade of secondary school but she would have liked to have studied sewing.

Alicia works at her business selling groceries and basic staple items about 12 hours daily and can take care of up to 25 customers. She believes that she does well in her business because she’s very attentive to her customers and because she offers quality products.

Alicia is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to their support she will be able to buy a freezer. It’s already very hot and vegetables and meats can spoil. With this improvement, she will be able to store her products under optimal conditions and her customers will feel more secure and confident in buying the products she offers and she will earn more income so that she can continue to save up to reach her great dream: “To provide her daughter with a profession and to improve her quality of life.”
