Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Mamlakatkhon's story

Mamlakatkhon is 52 years old, married and has three children. In search of an income source for her family, Mamlakatkhon started her own business in animal husbandry in 2004 with an initial sum of 10,000 som (KGS), which now yields a stable income from the sales of milk and meat products. She is also involved in preparing and selling dried fruits and today has a ready inventory of nuts, valued at 70,000 som (KGS). The earnings from this business allowed Mamlakatkhon to repay her youngest daughter's university education. In order to further develop her business, Mamlakatkhon requested a loan in the sum of 100,000 som (KGS) from the "Bai-Tushum and Partners" company to purchase livestock. In the future, she wants to increase her farm and expand her business.
