A loan of $1,925 helped a member to purchase dressmaking and dying supplies.

Begg Fallou Group's story

The Begg Fallou solidarity group was started on December 9th, 2010; it is comprised of fifteen women who are neighbours. They are driven by a feeling of solidarity, of trust, and they have the possibility to meet any time prior to each monthly gathering. Serigne Fallou is their idol—the reason for which his name was given to the group.

The leader, Khady, is 28 years old, she is unmarried and has no children; she is a seamstress and handles colouration at the same time; she has a good six years of experience. She is standing at the right of the photo dressed in the yellow and brown square-patterned fabric with her hands crossed on her chest. She purchases fabric in the neighbouring town, then sews and sells back at at home.

With a loan, she hopes to strengthen her sewing and dying business so as to be able to earn large profits.

She wants to grow the scope of her business in order to better realise a more consistent level of savings and take care of her family in the future.

In this group: Khady, Sokhna, Astou, Astou, Ndeye, Fatma, Binetou, Astou, Thiane, Aminata, Awa, Khadidiatou, Maty, Bineta, Anta
