A loan of $725 helped to buy soft drinks, candy, sweets, ice cream, etc.

Sonia Alexandra's story

The Ángel Gabriel Community Bank meets every two weeks in Colorado in the Montecristi canton. The area is know for its rich pre-colonial culture and handicrafts, which are recognized on the national and international level. It is the place of the famous straw "Panama" hats.

It is here that we meet Sonia, age 26. She is single and lives in her parent's house with her younger siblings. She has been with the community bank for three cycles, and she likes the help they've given her.

In order for Sonia to get ahead in live and support herself - as well as to help her parents - she started a small business more than eight years ago. She sells soft drinks, water, sweets, and ice, among other things. With her mother's help she works every day to prepare certain products and then sell them. Her business is going very well and now even better with the help of the loans.

Sonia will use this loan to buy soft drinks, candy, sweets, and ice cream, among other things that she also sells.

Her dream is to have a grocery store.
