A loan of $1,200 helped to buy cattle.

Oldemar De Jesus's story

Oldemar is 50 years old and lives with his wife and children in a community called San Carlos, which belongs to the second province in Costa Rica, Alajuela. It is an area that is in first place in the national production of coffee and sugar cane. The area also produces basic grains (rice, beans, corn), fruits, legumes, tubers and vegetables. And this province is also the location of the Juan Santamaría International Airport, the largest in the country.

Several months ago, Oldemar got a small group of cattle to have greater financial stability, since he is a driver for a business and has been occupied with this work for almost his whole life. But now he needs to get more fully involved with livestock as his four children have begun to study. Oldemar needs to acquire more cattle to get more profits and thus be able to afford tuition fees for his children, to give them the opportunity to become great professionals.

At this point Oldemar is requesting ₡ 600,000.00 (six hundred thousand colones) to purchase two bulls "healthy and good looking" for his cattle, as he tells us.

Oldemar is a member of the Communal Bank Credit Company of San Francisco, one of 150 organizations that EDESA partners with in Costa Rica. Oldemar continues to grow personally and economically in addition to participating actively in the credit organization in his community.
