A loan of $500 helped to buy an industrial overlock type sewing machine.

Gloria Cristina's story

Gloria is 43 years old. She is married with three children, two of whom are living with her.

She has dedicated herself to running her own store selling basic products. For the past five years, she has also worked in tailoring, as the employee of another woman. She buys her supplies in a city in the east of the country, for which she travels some 40 kilometers from her home to the city. She undertakes this journey twice a month.

The loan she is requesting is to buy an industrial overlock type sewing machine, so that she can work independently making uniforms for the public school students, no longer as an employee but as a business owner. Thus she will be able to earn a better income and provide a better quality of life to her family. Gloria plans to set up a tailoring shop in her community and include a tailoring school, so that she can teach the profession to others who would like to learn it.
