A loan of $1,000 helped to repair his vehicle.

Jorge Marcial's story

Jorge, 53, lives with his family in the community of Turrialba in Cartago Province. The city of Cartago was founded in 1563 by the Spanish conquistador Juan Vázques de Coronado and it was the capital of Costa Rica until 1823 as well as the seat of the world’s first international court, the Corte de Cartago. It’s mountainous terrain is formed by two ranges: Central and Talamanca.

For the last few months Jorge has needed some sort of help with his means of transportation since he harvests and sells the fruit and vegetables he grows. Because of this, Jorge is asking for a 500,000.00 (five-hundred thousand colones) loan to buy spare parts and pay labor costs to repair his car because he wants his means of transportation to stop breaking down so that his sales can increase as well as his income for his and his family’s wellbeing.

Jorge is a member of “Creinsa” communal bank one of EDESA’s 150 social organizations in Costa Rica. This will be his 4th loan and he hopes with it to continue growing both personally and economically besides participating actively in his community’s credit organization.
