Teresa De Jesús's story

Teresa is a member of the Atenas communal bank. She lives in a beautiful area of the city of Cuenca. This city is known as the "Athens of Ecuador". Its historical center is the largest and best preserved in the country. It is also modern and attractive and has all the present day comforts. Its local cuisine captures the palate of its own people and visitors. Its people maintain their culture and traditions.

Teresa is 51 years old. She is a widow and the mother of 4 children. Two of them are married and on their own. One son is working and helps her financially and her youngest son is going to high school in town. They don't own their own home and are renters.

Teresa makes cleaning cloths. She has been doing this activity for 10 years. At night, she sells chuzos (meat on a stick). She has been doing this business for a year. She has also been taking care of an elderly adult for two years.

She has been a member of the communal bank for 15 years. She will invest her loan in buying fabric to make the cleaning cloths.

Her dream is to have a business selling ceviche.
