Tania Karina's story

Tania is a member of the Atenas communal bank. She lives in a beautiful area of the city of Cuenca. This city is known as the "Athens of Ecuador". Its historical center is the biggest and best preserved in the country. It is also modern and attractive and has all present day comforts. Its local cuisine captures the palate of its own people and visitors. Its people maintain their culture and traditions.

Tania is 23 years old. She is married and has an eighteen month old daughter. Her husband works as a private employee. They don't own their own home but live in her parents home, independently.

Tania is a professional seamstress and she has her own shop in partnership with her aunt. She has had this business for 4 years and works Monday through Friday with no set schedule. She is on her second loan with the bank and she is going to invest it in buying raw materials for her business such as fabrics, thread, buttons, zippers, etc.

Her goal is to get her high school degree and continue studying at university.
