Abbas is a 50-year-old Lebanese married man who lives with his wife and two school-aged children. He was capable of covering their heavy costs of living in addition to his children’s school fees. He opened his own bakery four years ago.
Today, he wants to borrow $1600 from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase added raw materials for his bakery such as salt, flour, and many other items. He notes that this will improve his work, which allows him attract more clients. In the future, he plans to renovate and expand his bakery.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
