A loan of $450 helped to buy three cows in order to sell milk.

Maria Adela's story

María, a farmer, lives in the Isiqui community outside of Estelí. She has three children. She has been growing corn and beans for 20 years.

She is part of a cooperative of five members who grow basic grains and also raise livestock. During the season when there is little to do with her crops, she works as a day laborer in the tobacco fields with her husband. Both of them support each other in order to get the family ahead.

She got the loan to buy three cows in order to sell milk. One of her projects is to make a well in the ground in order to have water nearby and to provide for the animals.
