A loan of $1,200 helped to buy materials and fertilizers and to pay for the labor to plant onions.

Juan Antonio's story

Juan is from El Coyolito, a community in Concordia in the town of Jinotega, north of Estelí. He grows onions, tomatoes, corn and beans. He has been a farmer for 40 years. He has 6 children who are all grown. His father taught him to work in farming. He started helping to prepare the soil, clearing the land, feeding the animals and little by little acquired experience that helped him become independent and plant on his own. He plants corn and beans for his family to eat and to sell.

He took out the loan to buy materials and fertilizer and to pay for labor to plant onions. This investment will help him have a good quality crop with a good yield. His next goal is to plant a larger area with onions.
