Carlos Luis's story

Carlos Luis is 60 years old and lives with his family in the community of Santa Teresita, Cartago province. The city of Cartago was founded in 1563 by the Spanish conquistador Juan Vazquez de Coronado. It served as capital of Costa Rica until 1823, and was the seat of the first Permanent International Court in the history of the world, the Cartago Court. It's mountainous landscape is formed by two mountain chains: the Central and the Talamanca cordilleras.

Carlos Luis has the motivation and the aid of his family members, and that helps him continue with his life and his work. In addition, it is very important to make changes in his store, since demand is ever stronger and the residents of the community have been satisfied with the services he offers.

What Carlos Luis requests at this moment is a micro-loan of 600,000 colons to buy construction materials for improvements in his place of work, and to provide better maintenance and possible assistance for his business.

Carlos Luis is a part of the “Empresa de Credito Comunal (Communal Credit Enterprise) de El Sauce de Santa Teresita Turrialba,” one of the 150 organizations belonging to EDESA in Costa Rica. This will be his 1st loan and he says that with this he hopes to be able to continue growing as a micro-entrepreneur and advance his business. Also, he points out that thanks to these types of organizations and means of financing loans, borrowers can dedicate more time to productive activities.
