A loan of $600 helped to buy 25 sacks of corn and 25 sacks of millet.

Abdramane's story

Mr. Abdramane, age 34, is married and the father of four children. He lives with his wife and children in a nuclear family in Sikasso.

After trying many businesses without success, he became familiar with stocking and commercializing cereals (corn, millet, sorghum, fonio, peanuts, etc) seven years ago. He has a shop.

More than one year ago, eager to better satisfy an ever-increasing clientele, he decided to join Kiva's partner, the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, from which he is now seeking his fourth loan. Previous loans were repaid without problems.

He intends to use this fourth loan to buy 25 sacks of corn and 25 sacks of millet from villages in the surroundings of Sikasso. At first, his products are stored in his shop in order to be resold to a clientele comprising retailers and heads of family.

With this loan, he intends to turn an average monthly profit of XOF 150'000 (ca US$ 290), to be used mainly to help with the family expenses and pay the loan interests. He will invest the remainder in his business.
