A loan of $800 helped to buy fresh fish.

Moussa's story

Moussa, who was born in 1983 in Sikasso, is single and lives in a large traditional family in Mancourani II, one of the working-class districts of the town of Sikasso (the Republic of Mali's third administrative region). He began buying and selling fresh fish from Dakar around three years ago, and he carries out his business in a shop on the RN7 highway opposite the police station in Sikasso; his customers come from all social backgrounds. He is in great demand from his customers for the quality of his fresh fish.

With a view to responding better to ever-increasing customer demand, he decided to join the microfinance institution, Soro Yiriwaso, several months ago. He is requesting a first loan so that he can boost his business and buy 30 cartons of fresh fish to resell on a retail basis to Sikasso consumers.

With this loan he expects to make a monthly profit of 150,000FCFA, which will be used principally to expand his business and repay the interest on his loan.
