A loan of $625 helped to buy two video games, two televisions, and a photocopier.

Amalfi's story

Amalfi, age 42, has a family that consists of her husband and two children (ages 22 and 15). She is the owner of a business that offers mobile phone calling services. In addition, she offers video game and movie video services. The idea for this business came to her quite spontaneously. Her husband enjoys playing video games, so she bought the gaming equipment and every afternoon the children gathered at her house to play. They began forming a line, so she started renting out the games. Over time, more of her neighbors began visiting, so she was able to save some money to invest. Today she has two video game consoles and three televisions. At the moment, her customer base is constantly increasing and consists mainly of children and young people, especially students. Recently, customers have asked about photocopying, a service that she does not offer.

For this reason, she is requesting a Kiva loan, her first form of financing through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the money to buy two video games, two televisions, and a photocopier. Her dream is to expand her business and organize it into an Internet café that is quite comfortable. In the meantime, Amalfi is able to maintain sales profitability of 62%, a sign that points to the start of her growth.
