A loan of $575 helped to buy a variety of merchandise such as perfume, feminine accessories, sports clothing, etc.

Marlene's story

When Marlene started her commercial activity she did so selling fruit and working hard. Gradually her capital increased and after two years she decided to buy merchandise to open her own store and sell snacks in the school in her neighborhood. Currently her business is growing more each day and she feels proud because it has enabled her to move her sons forward. They are now 28 and 23 years of age.

For the past two years, Marlene has been associated with the Fundación Mario Santo, an organization which has provided her with two loans which have enabled her to expand her sales and improve her family's living conditions and income. Currently she is applying to KIVA to stock her business and meet the great demand she has for a variety of products such as perfume, women’s accessories, sports’ clothing, etc. Her investment is projected to be successful because she is making it to fill orders during a period of great movement associated with the festivities of Carnival, which require special clothing and accessories. Her dreams of growth are infinite. Consequently she gets up every day and organizes her work plan in order to be able to control everything the day affords.
