A loan of $1,125 helped to purchase soft drinks and other beverages by the box.

José Mirtiliano's story

José has been selling refreshing drinks since the year 2002, a time in which he became unemployed and so to support his family he decided to invest his money and work independently. Thus he allocated a space in his home and started up from this place, which is a very strategic point near the municipality's plaza where the days of Carnival constitute one of the most significant holidays for the population. With his work and discipline José's business has grown gradually, and currently he has had three loans through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo.

Thus he has succeeded in improving his lifestyle, and today his goal is to continue expanding his business, especially with regards to the location, so as to grow his line of merchandise and offer his customers a comfortable environment. However his working capital is still insufficient for fulfilling his dream, and this is precisely the reason for which he turns to his Kiva loan, the fourth loan he has taken out with the Foundation. With it he plans to expand his working capital and invest in soft drinks and other beverages by the box, taking advantage of the approaching Carnival season, a time during which happiness overflows and the partying spirit infects his customers who then spend more in amusements and refreshments, which is good for José's business.
