Lilian is aged 28 and has been in farming for six years. She is married with two children, aged 6 and 3 years, with the first-born already schooling. Her farm produces maize and beans which she sells to the local market.
Lilian has requested a loan of 30,000 KES from Juhudi Kulimo to buy poultry. She hopes to be able to raise enough income to cater for her family's basic needs. She aspires to become the main supplier for poultry products, both broilers and layers, in the region.
She laments poor prices and rampant animal diseases, especially poultry diseases. She is urging Juhudi Kilimo to introduce school fee loans.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
